Fine flat lined out render is something that was very common up until the 1960’s

t relies on very straight and flat work without surface blemishes from troweling or floating. Today this is most simply achieved by using a scratch or nail float over a well laid up surface to eliminate hollows and bumps so that the finished lined our work gives a close representation of finished masonry.

With through coloured renders readily available, Masons Mortar Ltd provide guidance and basic training on the use of Scratched finishes to achieve masonry standard finishes, with advice on setting out coursing, running or formal bonding, variation in colours between lined out units (all done with the same single coloured mortar) and making the process as cost effective and efficient as possible.
